I have an immense amount of respect for BJJ practitioners, but it takes a special kind of delusion to believe you can prevail in a gunfight when you have no gun. By all means train, but don't drink the Kool-Aid.

I've been banned from better websites than this one.

8 years. Brown belt.

I also do wrestling and kickboxing.

Trained a TMA for about another 10 years.

I don’t know anyone who trains BJJ that believes that. jiu jitsu is effective in one on one, no weapons situations. And that depends on how you train.

If you just train to win competitions you’ll be harder beat up than an untrained person but anyone with some striking skills and rudimentary submission defense will be a problem.

I love it.. training for 8 years and think you're invincible. a bigger reason I quit is not because of my neck, but the instagram and shaka culture that started, well with facebook and instagram.

I started traneing in 1995

Don't discount people's size and strength either. Once watched a fight breakout where one of the guys was a large muscular individual. He was around 6'3 and 230 lbs of pure muscle. He looked like a NFL linebacker. Anyways, a brown belt in BJJ who was about 160 lbs got into it with him and decided to punch this dude thinking his "training" was more than enough to make up the size difference. Big dude proceeded to pummel the small guy after getting attacked. Submissions are a lot harder when the guy has almost 80 lbs on you.

Fighting is dumb. One wrong punch or fall and you could screw up your life forever. Not worth it. I see guys get into arguments/fights over waves and I just can't understand it. You're willing to risk jail and injury over a wave? lol. Not going to be surfing much when someone sues you for everything you own or you end up in prison. That's the world we live in today.

Me? I just walk away.

thank you! I don't think Duffy is condoning fighting or looking for fights btw.

anyway, some guy wanted to fight at the beach in the past year or so, I told him I'm here to surf not to fight.

Man, that pissed him off!!! He was getting in my face saying "you're some kind of tough guy?" It was great.

I don’t think I’m invincible. Quite the opposite. I’m acutely aware of how vulnerable I am.

I’m not really sure what your problem is. Maybe you’re seeing something in my posts that isn’t there.

Can you post a quote where I even suggested that I’m even remotely close to “invincible”?

I don’t post training photos on instagram but people who do don’t bother me.

I’m glad you quit. Sorry about your neck. Mine’s pretty fucked up too. Had some paralysis on my right side that took a couple years to rehab. Kept training though. IG bros don’t bother me.

Does everyone who is as hardcore as you quit? Must be hard to be a better man than everyone around you. I just can’t relate.

Size and strength matters a lot. Have I said otherwise?
