That was a good one.
Long roller, not too much shakey.
Had a good crack open up on the living room drywall.
We here, fortunately, have the mountains that somewhat, dampen the effects of EQ's here.
Hope everyone down south are OK.
WHOLE LOTTA SKAK'N going on.

6.4 now, up in Ridgecrest area. Pretty far away from LA. Basically east of 395 and SW of Death Valley.

My wife felt it slightly sitting on the couch. I missed it standing in the kitchen. Noticed ever so slight swaying of blinds and pulls. But pretty impressive to even feel a tiny bit down in Oceanside.

My brother lives in Lake Isabella just over the mtn from the epicenter area. Need to chat with him.

Solid rolling for maybe 45s in the South Bay. Blinds and open doors swinging.
I knew it was a good one from the length of it.

Hey guys,
I do a fair amount of business bolting down old houses. This might be a good time to think about a seismic retrofit before your house bounces off its foundation.

Houses built in the 50's and older often have bolts that have rusted away. Also the were sort of sparsely placed back then.

On ounce of prevention...

I walk into the kids room and they're on the bed. I ask if they feel it and the 4 year old says. "I just feel the bed being lifted in the air" Jumps up and says "watch what I can do during an Earthquake!" and does a front flip on the bed. Glad to see they're taking after me and enjoying the earthquakes instead of being afraid of them.

my whole area older apartments/condos are getting earthquake retrofitted for the pillars. lot of the older places have thin pillars in the garage structures. guess city of LA passed code to double the size. our building was passed by the city w/o needing retrofitting. am at work, so will see when I get home if anything happen.

My wife was yelling at me that there was an animal on our roof because she wss hearing noises. I didn't feel anything.

I bet the guys at China Lake Naval Weapons Center had a moment of nervousness...

Our house got a seismic retrofit when we bought it. I asked the building inspector what was holding the house on the foundation previously? "Gravity."

I crawled under the house to inspect the work. Man, those guys earned their pay. One corner of the house had about 15" of crawl space. The most spacious areas had about 2 feet. They had to work on their bellies and backs and slither around like snakes to move around.
