After putting in 5 sessions - I think it's the best HPSB I've ever ridden. I'm riding a variation called the Viper CT. There is no area where I have complaints on this board. Hold where I need it, loose where I need loose. Needs a little curve to work. Stocked.

Waves were -
hollow slab in the chest-head range
Longish, steep walls in the chest-head high range.
OH, heaving beachbreak.

Probably wouldn't want to ride it in messy conditions but haven't had the chance yet. We'll see.

The VIPER, a new model for 2015, is a surfboard made for your intermediate to pro surfer who wants to excel in waves waist high to head high. Like the X21, this board was designed to be a mid wave performance surfboard for good waves at home, on the W.Q.S, and on the W.C.T. A major difference the Viper offers in comparison to the X21 is easier entry into waves, and MORE DRIVE. Same as the X21, the VIPER has heaps of single concave mixed with volume under the front foot. Xanadu dialed in some fine tweaks to make the VIPER the fastest board in the Xanadu Mid Wave Performance line. For 2015, look to see the WCT guys on the VIPER when surfing contests, as well as the local rippers putting it to work when the conditions are prime.

This looks sick, always wanted a Xanadu. "is that a Zan uh doo? ITS SHANDU!!!"

Rumour is that Slater has a full-size tattoo of himself over his entire body

Sounds like it has a good amount of entry rocker?

Don't know - haven't measured.

It's a good paddler, gets in early, no problem in steep closeout sections.

Xanadu puts the viper in Family One of his line-up, which corresponds to the following description:

Quote
‘Family One’ models are designed with most of the rocker curve in the middle to the nose of the board. The drive is generated from the middle of the board to the tail. Because the rocker is mostly focused in the middle to nose area of the board, the nose rocker frees the rail, allowing it to engage quickly for optimum speed and control in critical sections of the wave. Each ‘Family One’ board has its own characteristics and purpose.

full potato chip with tons of rocker. worked great in barrels. outside of the barrel not so much.

user error i'm sure.

Yes.

It's an insane board.

DD if you're surfing spots with good waves.

Waves need curve though, of course.

But

I have not had many waves frontside on it - the few I have have been good - will report further in a few weeks.
