That lay~back hack 1st maneuver on his last wave was sick! 9.50!
Practice them lay~backs, boyz+girlz!

Too funny though,
was the beach announcer yakin' it up as JJF is carried up the stairs:
"We luv your work Kolohe, thanks for coming"...
Dude is #2 in the world right now, so yow~za!
And Team Nike, err Hurley,
kicked some arse!

John John is king. That down carve of his is just incredible.

The scoring for his final wave was weird though...9.50? Really? Funny how they've clipped it from both the highlights of the final AND the 'full heat' replay...

anyone get the vibe that JJF may have been studying Mick's surfing? I see them same similarities in engaging the rail and how he seems to have that speed generation through turns.

there's so many generational influences in JJ's surfing. 60's with his arms in the down carve. Mick's open shoulder top turn. Slater's tail slide in the cutback. Kid has absorbed a lot and created something his own.

Got to give it to Pottz calling out Kolohe for not sending it like he claimed before the heat. started with a flurry, but no sending

I wanted Koohe to win I really did, but when I saw that giant speed gaining down carve I knew it was a wrap.
I really think Carissa should have been in the final. Classic judging preferring a 3 to the beach over power

at that point JJ had won the heat due to the cold brutal priority fake out he pulled on Kolohe. the 9.50 was more just a victory lap score. or an overdue score from the low ones he got at the Box.

Contest was live on Fox Sports 2 last night in so-cal. Not on the TV guide listing, but just happen to stumble onto it. Hope it stays like that as Amazon's browser sucks for streaming on FireTV.

Where you seeing it? I'm still only seeing the last part of the ride, not the whole ride.

Jon Jon seems like a nice young man.
