So.... top grovelers include

GMM2
Cybersim
Simster
Flying manta.

with PU vs epoxy based on durability vs benefit of added weight.

I’ve been eyeballing a Vernor mini simmons

I’m just here to drink some beer and ride high volume boards.

No, that's more of a step-up groveler step-up.

Exactly. Even a mid-length is a pain in the arse if you aren't gonna get a nice takeoff and longer rides. To be able to flip it and go and fit into the small pockets / sections makes it fun in messy conditions.

But if there are small pockets I definitely want my groveler at the same volume as my DD. Different strokes I suppose.

Ah, funny guy here. So you're about 183 pounds. You must be a good surfer because 30.5L seems really low for a Groveler. I am struggling on 35-37L. I'm your same age and ~185lbs.

Have you ever tried a lower volumed groveler? (Or even daily driver shortboard?) I think you might be surprised to find that all that foam could actually be holding you back from catching waves.

Agree

I have had two over-volumed boards over the past few years - one from XTR and another from JS.

I had to instantly dump both - they sat on top of the water and made it difficult to actually catch waves.

You want to be in the wave when catching waves, not on top.

I am figuring this out right now. The 37L Dwart Too doesn't really catch small waves any better than my 35L daily driver (shortboard to me).

Took it out in some 4'-5' this week and had several missed waves where I hung at the top. Would I have done better on my 35L or less..??.. Who knows.

It's probably time to try something in the 32-34 range to figure out the differences.
