That is a step up for a logger

So i have a nearly private break, 5 guys out is a crowd so we all ride whatever we feel like- best surfer out there rides a foamie most of the time ( no idea why this is a trend here an obx but it is).

I try to ride whatever is most appropriate for the wave and my feeling that day. ( if I've been working nights I tend to want something to glide)

There is no substitute for a log- it is a different style of surfing. I have surfed a plank, a mini sim, a flat tracker, and various logs and in the super small stuff, only a log is any fun. Small is knee to thigh. You may say thats not worth my time but a nice clean summer day with warm water and sunshine and it's a good time.

I have a flat tracker that I ride in super small and mushy waves, it works fine for me but i'm not really trying to ride a small high performance board. I just want to glide and have a good time. I can ride the FT in the super small stuff and its easier to turn than a log so it's more fun for me. Why not just surf the log? Definitely an option.. if the best waves are barely surf able, I'll ride a log, if best waves get up to thigh, I ride the FT. The waves you guys are posting are not the waves I'm talking about.

This.

Those days should be spent staying in shape and doing some sort of other physical activity.

I disagree. I've had plenty of fun days on the East, West and Gulf Coasts where nothing other than a log will work well. If its freezing cold, I may opt out of the session but I enjoy surfing small clean peelers breaking in shallow water. It presents its own set of challenges, requires precision/finesse, and the small conditions usually keep people away.

Maybe somewhere around 5'0 x 18 1/2 x 2 3/8 with a tapered rail.........give or take on the thickness to get to your desired volume. I would definitely ask XTR to taper the rail on these because they can end up pretty full otherwise.

I like erring on the side of narrow for this board because the tail is so wide........as you go wider, it's harder to go rail to rail.

dummy hipsturds too busy making cold brew coffee and growing their own herbs and spices to ride a sub 9 foot board when the waves have some push.

Exactly. Same with Wavestorms. That's why I'd rather paddle out on a groveler or even my HP thruster and use my energy and reflexes to make it work. That's more rewarding to me.

Hell no. Longboards are, in so many cases, the best choice given the waves
on offer and I laugh at fools trying to sit inside and pick off waves that really
should only be lb worthy. I feel bad for peeps that refuse to own a longboard.
Your loss. With that said, I’ll always choose a smaller board if the waves warrant one.

how do you know that they are not enjoying shredding the micro peelers on the inside. some small waves hit the bank just right and allow for shreds on a proper gravel boar. more fun than looking like a fooking hood ornament and thinking u r king of the ocean bc u can bully other surfers on smaller boars

I've arrived at this point as well. If the surf doesn't look fun I'll just go find something else to do. I'll go skate or something. Sometimes I'd rather just do that anyway.

This is why I have so much fun when it's crap. Low expectations, low crowd, and if I can make something out of nothing I go home smiling.

I got rid of my lb. Just isn't the way I like to surf.

I like lb but I find it’s too hard to switch back and forth

I feel like a midlength is way easier to hop on and off and works in a wider variety of conditions

I generally bring a shortboard and a 7’2 to a session and can hop on the midlength if it’s too small/sloppy for sb and then easily switch back if tide drops
