An excuse to get stoned or to buy a whole bunch of shit? Both?

The latter.

No excuse needed for the former.

Excellent.

Total Wine & More is the other dangerous place. I am one of the lucky people out there who only needs to shop for wine and donuts on their wife's birthday. Which means I also pick up several beers for myself in the process. roflmao beer

Nothing is obscene provided it is done in bad taste.

I can't remember who the comedian was that said this, but Millennial really just means you are younger than me, and I don't like you.

Seems pretty spot on.

Paraphrasing someone more famous than me.

The 10 bags of potato chips and other TJ snacks in your cart would be a decent indicator toward the third option.

Never, ever, ever, ever go to Costco stoned off your ass. And that's just for getting the same free sample 5+ times - I feel like I should have at least brought a couple disguises with me as I'm expecting to hear the bells and "Shame" by the 3rd time.

Not only is the prospect of free snacks dangerous, but the amount you'll buy is horrendous as well.

I'm not a fan of waiting in line while stoned off my ass either

Yes, and it's all in bulk so you better have a large pantry/freezer.

I'd rather be stoned than sober waiting in line. Same method works at DMV and traffic school - get high, very high. smokin

Being stoned and standing in line at any major market in Santa Cruz is interesting. It kind of takes the shock factor off of watching the other freaks.

I'd imagine it is akin to being stoned and people-watching at the Vegas Airport.

I do better with drunk shopping.

Or opiate shopping.

The best is shopping after drinking, taking opiates and having sex with a woman.

I'm pretty calm in the crowd then.

Some people need a little help.

incompetence is preferable to malice.

The Trader Joe’s worker didn’t ask me anything about my day or anything else other than “cash or card?”
Maybe this thread made me more aware of it, but, I mean, I really wanted to know why there were no almonds of any kind anywhere in the store. But, nope, she didn’t even ask if I found everything.
It kinda hurt my feelings

On the topic of happy faces

Whatabout store employees telling you to smile? I love that!

"SMILE!"

Idiotically presumptuous.

Hopefully they'll redeem themselves next time around

Maybe ask you what your wife does for a living

Or give a friendly reminder that the American Cancer Society now recommends prostate exams start at age 40.

While we're on the topic, when did it become acceptable for people to call you "boss"?

Did this come with the SUP epidemic?

Trader Joes is one of the worst. Mission Valley location is over the top. PB can go either way. UTC and Pt. Loma location has none of this probing bullshit.

For this reason not sure if it's actual store policy - If it is I can't understand why if other than the fact millenials are constantly seeking validation so they might actually hope they have an excuse to tell someone about all the cool stuff they're doing(?)

And believe me, I've tried the grunt - that seems to make them probe harder. It's like an inability to read social cues. ("Why isn't he telling me about how awesome he is?" confused2)
