Didnt see the queen movie but its a shame that Roma didnt win for sound. I found the soundscape they created to be pretty spectacular.

I loved the Queen movie, even though they played fast and loose with a lot of the history and details.

I'd have to say this isn't a terrible bunch of films nominated this year.

I can't stand Emma Stone so I'll never watch this movie. There are a few actors to whom I have this reaction and she's one of them. Tom Cruise is another.

My Oscar story... I was drafted during my 'work' as Steve McQueen's photo double and stand-in during the filming of The Sand Pebbles in Taiwan. The production moved on to Hong Kong, I went to Fort Ord, California for basic and off to Vietnam after intelligence training and getting a 2LT commission after infantry OCS. Anyway, upon my return too the US, I called Steve and let him know I was back in the world And had a new wife! Steve invited Jo Anne and me to his place on Oakmont for dinner and kick back at 'the Castle.' Later, Steve called a local Chinese take-out and gave them our order. Steve and I left the ladies in the kitchen and went to the garage where he selected Neile's new 1968 911L for the rather exciting drive to the restaurant to pick-up our chow. We entered through the side door and it was obvious to me that Steve was a 'regular.' While waiting for the order to be bagged an 'older' (maybe 40 years old :-) ) woman came in and brushed past us to the take-out counter. She demanded her order but was told it would be ready shortly. She was obviously impatient. She stepped back and looked at us and asked Steve, "Do I know you?" Steve shuffled his feet a little and said words to the effect, "No m'am, I don't think so." She told him he looked familiar. Steve said, "I don't know m'am, maybe I parked your car at the (Academy) awards ceremony this week." She then turned and ignored us until the cashier said, "Mr. McQueen , your order is ready." Steve (typical) told me he didn't have his wallet. The matron then recognized him, mouth agap! I paid and we left with giggles over the now speechless matron ;-) The ride back to The Castle was as harrowing as the ride to the restaurant! John
