They will sell you a Fever by filming their pros riding a bunch of boards that are a Fever in name only.

I mean, we know this happens all the time but has it ever been so blatant?

I found it interesting that most shorter guys ride the board 1-2 inches above their height while the taller ones 2-3 inches below...

Pretty much this.

The Rocketwide Twin and Neckbeard Twin they had on social media is the best thing they've come up with in a while.

I’m just here to drink some beer and ride high volume boards.

well it s more the fault of brands, i m 6'2 185 pounds, I ride shortboard 32 to 33L, they usually come at 6'2 for hps, my daily driver is 5'11 at 32.7L. It s just what s in the market for daily 2-4 foot waves. No point to ride a 6'4, so much rail in the water and bigger than 33L always feels like too much board under my feet. Proportion issue ?

For the fever, it s the best shortboard I owned by the way smile a very accessible hps

I like that CI has sensible dims in their recent shortboards (Black + white, Fever). I was checking out Xanadu's website and literally all the shortboards has much lower volume to board length ratio...

Not to go off topic but i really wish JS packed their Monsta 8 with a little more volume in their stock dims...

Im not saying these boards are all Fevers but what evidence do you see in that video that they arent?

PS: Im well aware that CI will slap a model name on a board that is fundamentally different than the boards they sell under that name off the rack.

Fever and the sample are fun boards. i did not like the weirdo ripper (board is slow to plane and getting into waves).

Stock dims on the website don't match stock dims in the video.

+

A board ridden 2 inches shorter than your height is not going to perform the same ridden 3 inches longer than your height.

Parker is 5'7 and riding a 5'10.
Pat is 6'1 and riding a 5'10.

Lol

There's something going on there.

I think custom dims with the same rocker, bottom contours and outline is still a fever. And from the video I cant tell.

As for height recommendations, those are recomendations. and they are based on stock (non-custom) dims for a broad range.

Again, Im not saying that CI is always honest about what boards pros are riding. Ive held in my hands a couple of Kellys Fred Rubble boards and they arent what was being offered OTR. For one thing they had single concave.

I'm not singling out CI because everyone does this.

I'm just saying this was a bit of a marketing goof on their part.

Changing the concave of a board, shaving off 1/4 inch of width, or in this case, using 5 more inches of rail, means to me some serious differences in performance.

Yeah, you're kind of wrong on this one.

I guarantee that a board you'd prefer a little bit longer than your height I'd ride several inches shorter. Just the difference between tall and short surfers' proportions.

It's not like CI doesn't encourage custom dimensions. You can order a Fever however you like.

I dont think tweaking length, width or even tail shape fundamentally changes the general gist of a design.

I could get an OTR Fever and decide it would work better 2 inches shorter and 1/8 inch thicker. That in my mind doesnt make it not a Fever.

A friend of mine has a coupl of round tail MBMs with channels. Thats not what you get OTR.
