Broke my Roberts Meat Cleaver is solid 4-6' surfed and loved that board.

Looking for a board to handle 4-5-6' waves, hollow NJ beach breaks. What Roberts board would be good for that.

Can pyzel phantom handle those waves. I keep going to this board.

Another Meat Cleaver? If it worked, why change?

Superbrand Pig Dog is what I'm looking at for similar waves. They seem like they would work well in East Coast style bombing beach break. The Brett Barley/Hattaras influence leads me to believe it would be well suited.

You guys must be stoked on the west winds lately. Friday should be pretty solid.

HI--- The Phantom will easily handle solid surf (here is Hawaii it's pretty commonly ridden in waves up to 8-10' faces) and it still feels great on the smaller end.
It's got that extra foam up front that makes it feel solid and paddle well.
I get a lot of good feedback from NJ regarding the Ghost too- especially for the more hollow, grinding days.

Have not surfed BOMBING nj on my phantom or ghost yet - but I have surfed some pretty solid days. I actually like the phantom more (in all waves). It gets into waves so easily and shorter length just feels good to me. Jon is right when he says the ghost rides a bit longer than its length. I have loved my ghost in bigger, more spread out lineups. But the phantom seemed to fit in the curvy waves so well.

I got the meat cleaver for warm water versions of NJ. It does what I hoped it would do. Early entry, good speed, pivot off the top and holds rail on the bottom turn. Ive got an xtr tormentor, great glass job, there is some extra spice in the cleaver. I like the rail shape in the first 12" , effective in helping set the rail on takeoffs.
