Mine was a 1972 Volvo 1800ES. My dad bought it for my mom's birthday then she gave it to me 10 years later. Awesome car but expensive as FVck to keep it running.

1963 Mercury Comet Wagon
260 V8 Auto
Baby blue and lots of Rust

Bought for $400. Jumped it dukes of hazzard style off the top of thunderbowl and blew the exhaust. Got 2 new glass packs installed, air shocks in the back, dad's cb radio with mega phone under the hood, board racks on top.
A week later took it down Baja way 4 hrs S or so on a surf trip with some friends. Got it stuck in some quicksand mud road, and spent 4 hours getting it out. Power steering fluid leaked and had to fix with duck tape and surf wax. Got stopped in Tijuana detour for 'going thru stop sign', pleaded with the cop I had no $ and had to get back 300 miles north, he let us off.
Continued to be the most enjoyable POS car for a couple years. Went to salvage graveyard after that.

New-to-us 2015 Golf GTI (has red GTI badge which is supposed to stand for extra hamsters under the hood).

I've always liked GTIs. When we buy our 3 row SUV soon I will get a small car for me to drive. Will be a GTI, WRX, or Civic Si

Does your GTI have the cool plaid interior?

All GTis have plaid seats, from MK1 to 7.

2015 here as well. If you're planning on driving it seriously, consider an R.

I hate to be a geek about this, but MK1 and Mk2 US GTI's didn't have plaid seats. Although the last 2 years of some the MK2's had fabric that was close to plaid. Also none of the R's or R32's have plaid seats, they all have more upscale sport seats. Not sure when the first US GTI had plaid.
OK I'm done and sorry for the GTI geek out. computer

Haha, good catch. I thought all Euro GTis had plaid seats.

Oh and get the DSG!

I know I'll get flack for that. I'd choose manual on almost every other vehicle but VW/Audi DSG is so quick with paddle shifters.
If you're planning to have it as a daily driver, you get the best of both worlds.

Plus you get that snarl when shifting that manuals don't have. hat
