What if we cut the size of the military, closed tax loopholes for oil companies, and ended the foreign wars? Still can’t “afford” it? Free public education (investing in our workforce) universal healthcare (investing in the health of our populous) are only radical ideas here in our rigged economy.
Gotta love the ErBB, where pointing out that something is expensive gets you ilked as a warmonger and military industrial complex supporter and apologist
Again- in no way am I arguing against single payer and/or socialized medicine. Medicare/Aid is already a massive expenditure and only services a portion of our country. European countries have far higher taxes than we do and still have trouble balancing the books, even with the US footing most of the bill for their defense. I'm all for scaling back the military, although there will always be countries like Russia, China, Iran, etc who will gladly fill the world power void if the US were to no longer exist in its current role.
Yes, there could be some balance by reducing out of pocket costs and receiving what employers would be paying towards income as a cash raise, although I imagine we would still be spending more overall.
