Truth - Have fun! You live the life!

grg - I'll pm you when it gets closer. We're staying far west Maui, so my swell window is pretty small. Not sure I can convince my crew to make the drive to the north side, we'll see.

Maybe meet up for a surf? Will be staying on other side but will be mobile and most likely be heading over your way for some waves -

The Womens CT Maui Pro window is November 25 - December 6 so you will be able to view free Surfline Forecasts. Also read mauisurfreport.blogspot.com for a maui based forecast. If you dont bring your board, can rent good boards at Hi-Tech near the airport. Or buy a board and give it away of sell it when you leave.

A few of the past contests have been held in enviable conditions at da cave. Only two women out at overhead cave is a dream come true. During the contest you can surf further out at subs. As soon as the final horn sounds, paddle as fast as you can to the Cave and if you lucky, score a set wave at cave. The sunset, breaching whales, dolphin pods, rainbows make the place even better.

Finally, suggest reading the book Barbarian Days on the plane ride over. It will add to your trip.

Have a good trip!

Re: Maui - 11/24/18 06:34 AM

So forecast is calling for a couple feet overhead Tuesday when we fly in, then head high wednesday, then waist high Thursday. More swell possible Saturday and Sunday. Probably only going to surf Honolua or surrounding, so Im thinking I can just bring my 63 everyday board. I rode it at head high honolua last time I was there and did fine. If the swell was gonna stock around longer Id bring my 68 step up but I think that might be overkill for every day except Tuesday but swell wil already be fading when I get up there.

Thoughts?

Re: Maui - 12/03/18 05:59 PM

Thanks for the tips. Ended up bringing my 6'3" Coil Flashback Fish, which was the right call for most of the waves I got. Got in a couple sessions, once with Lelandcuz. Rode the mat one day when it was tiny. Plenty of family time at the beach and pool. Can't wait to go back.

Re: Maui - 12/05/18 02:05 AM

back for a few weeks over xmas
maui is insane but blown away by accomadation/rental prices - cursory search showed
significantly more than neighboring islands and surfdogs place -
i am a novice when it comes to hawaii so wondering why that is?

however one good tube at the bay will make all that financial pain go away

Its def. not cheap here and that includes EVERYThing )except Costco Restaraunt) LOL. Crazy that Costco gas is $1.00 less than stations.

It's Maui & Wow-weeee
Fave ... for Steven Tyler
Crosby, Stills & Naish
George Benson
Jimmy Hendricks
Loggins & Messina
Oprah!!!
shrug

But really, it's about the once real life of migrating surfers from California that were living in $60.00 a month rooms for rent in Lahaina, the free for all Whaling Spree Days of locals chasing hippies around, binge drinking at the Lahaina Yacht Club, and glassy days at Honolua Bay. So it went to weed, cocain and acid ... because it was in the business plan ... hosted by visiting California surfer's ~ beer

After being here a month I am flying home today. Been a good trip surfing with my son and enjoying the Island life.

Home for a couple weeks and then pack the truck and tour the Baja Peninsula for a couple months surfing, Kiting, eating tacos, and enjoying Baja Life.

Hope you get some on your trip back. Watch out for Tanner LOL

My life is pretty good only working 7 months a year which really isn't work, Surfing, SUP, Kiting, windsurfing and MTB. Then travel the other 5 months a year.

Many people want my life but then you'd need to give up the Mortgage, major budgeting and have way fewer zeros in the Bank Account. Then they usually say oh cant hang with that LOL.

Fewer zeros but more smiles for me wave2
