that mini longboard looks sick

wife and I spent last sunday checking out the north shore
got to check out some of the volcom contest - that wave is so fucked
stopped into haleiwa joe's to watch the end of the superbowl and the guy next to us at the bar was pretty chatty
turns out he used to own the wrv shop up the road and is roommates with JOB
I asked if he knew a guy named greg griffin
he was like "griffin's the fucken man dude" :-)
good story was talked

I wanted to surf one of your high performance longboards at the spot I scored
the guys getting most of the waves were ripping on hp logs

In my humble opinion, this is the best group shot I've seen you post in quite some time bowdown jam_on cheers applause2

I would like to make an additional request, as I think it goes with the above shot............

Awhile back, you posted a pic of a 6'8, that was the closest thing I've ever seen you do to an 'egg' - and I can't find what thread it was on.

If you know what board I'm talking about, can you repost, please?

The pic was taken in your living room in Hawaii - with the beautiful hardwood floors.

If not, no worries, but I do remember the outline on that thing was amazing and it's been driving me crazy the last few days, since you posted the above pic.

Cheers GG

cheers cheers

PS - where are the Florida food pics? shrug

6'8 Rocket Round Tail for Caroline

Re: Group Shot - 02/13/19 11:02 PM

reminds me of when I had full quiver of your boards

I don't have as many of your boards as tanner but I still have the original 5 fin fish you made me in early 2000, the bamboo skinned 5 fin modfish (my brother has the tigerwood skinned one he calls Tiger Woods), two of the felix tails with keel options the one in EPS you made for me and the PU one you made for Cyril, an 8' rocket you made for Greg in Florida and 9' custom 5 fin EPS HP Longboard. I left the orange ResinX modfish that Bammbamm glassed on Kauai for friends to play with, I sold the 7'4" red rocket and 6'8" custom thruster, My brother has the 9' thruster HP longboard in the bottom picture.

Re: Group Shot - 02/26/19 09:53 PM

I've made several versions of this Inverted Vee since the 70's

I made them at Local Motion and it was on the price list at T&C in the 80's

Re: Group Shot - 02/27/19 12:05 PM

Griff, all you need to do is carry the concave area out to the rails and you might be onto something. All kidding aside nice shape, Havenít done an inverse Vee in awhile this brought back some memories
Posted By: Greg Griffin

Re: Group Shot - 02/27/19 12:20 PM

This guy got it all wrong too , making it concave in the 70's !

I upgraded it by making it longer and with slightly curved sides rather than cup shaped surfaces to plane on dancing

Posted By: retodd

Re: Group Shot - 02/27/19 03:47 PM

Is RB pointing out the concave in the nose?

Are those hooked wings ?

Or are they early channels ?

Awesome pic , don't think I noticed the other details before .

Eye always went to that inverted vee tail

do you have a picture of the trifin with the half moon sides he made owl that had the air flap thing
my cousin got brewer to make him one in the early 70's

Great looking quiver!
What's the specs on the board on the far left?

Are you selling these in any FLA shops yet GG?
You should talk to Sunrise and Aqua East in Jax, be nice to see some of these make their way north.

Best quiver posting in a while IMO.
cheers

5'2" x 20 1/4" Hovercraft , Tri Fin or Twinzer

I contacted Sunrise when I first came , they said they follow my Insta and like the boards but have no room .

Shops are not really interested even tho they follow my Instagram :-)

Just ordered another 600.00 of fin making materials - back to work . wave2

Did you talk to Dan? I'll talk to them next time I stop in for wax smile
You should call Scott at Aqua East they have a lot more space. To be fair sunrise does have a small board section compared to Aqua East.
You should also talk to Tory at Surf Station in St A. if you haven't already. They also have a bigger board space.

What's that weight range on a above average surfer riding that 5'2" ? Looks really fun.
