On a midlength....rocker apex back, wide point back? A lot of mid lengths seem to have the wide pint forward...

What design aspects would make a board more amenable to riding off the tail?

The stubb vector is the best mid length if you want any decent action from the tail

Wide point at center or just behind
Thruster set up
Vee going up at least 3 feet from tail so when it's on rail it will drive
Thruster set up
Nice sharp edges
Nose thickness and width kept to a minimum

Dood, you have to try my Harbour Spherical Revolver. 8' of nicely dialed in, single fin greatness. It's Afoaf tested and approved. While I agree with the mid-length tri fin setup as being the most versatile, the S.R. is a fricken dream to ride. Paddle power, carving and trim are exceptional. Rich nailed it when he resurrected this design and gave it a tune up. jam_on
