1.5 lb is their standard? barf

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/06/19 10:40 PM

That's the standard weight of his boards? I kind of skimmed through the video.

How light is too light?

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/06/19 11:15 PM

1.5 lb eps foam

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/06/19 11:21 PM

So end product is what, under 3lb still?

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/06/19 11:32 PM

I thought lb in foam was density?

I would like to try a 6'2"

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/07/19 02:31 AM

He is talking about foam density

Using the heavier , stronger and more durable 2 lb foam in this model + extra glass .

Love my Hydronaut! Mine's in XTR though. 2lb foam density with a stringer and 4x4x4oz glassing. Perfect for me at 160lbs.

Looks a lot like a Bonzer Pod.

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/07/19 05:43 PM

I'm pretty sure he stole the Bonzer Pod file and made an exact copy of it. monkey

I've also heard the hydronaut looks exactly like a CI TLow with the nose cut off. Maybe CI just added a pointy nose to the Bonzer Pod??

I can't keep up these days. toilet

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/07/19 06:10 PM

Yeah, I'm not saying he swiped the file or even looked at a Pod. I'm just noting there are some obvious similarities to that preexistent design and I think it is interesting to observe the direction into which DT's boards continue to evolve as he seemingly moves ever closer to status quo.

I would imagine the rocker is significantly different.

I suspected that's what you were saying, but wasn't 100% sure. Inevitably, there's always someone in a Tomo thread that says "this board looks exactly like that one" and I just wanted to poke a little fun.

My post was in jest. cheers

Re: Daniel having a great time - 01/07/19 08:54 PM

Respectfully... I donít think itís accurate to say DT is moving towards the status quo. I think pointy nose boards are probably more definitive of the status quo in surfing than a round nose? Not many top/leading shapers are doing torpedo noses and if Tomo Surfboards is going to dedicate rounded noses on new models from now on, I presume that a series (maybe a ďHydro SeriesĒ) is going to emerge. As a fan, Iím hoping his revisits some of his older tail shapes with torpedo noses!

Very pleasing, aesthetically

Even this narrower 'Torpedo Nose " will deflect harder than a pointed one going thru the lip and during rebounds .

Da Froster is over heating once again wave2

Some guy in 1970 made these in Santa Barbera I tink shrug
