They had decent boards to rent. The wave spits you off the peak pretty quickly. If you don't make a quick turn right after take off you'll find yourself in the white water in the middle of the pool instead of the wave section which breaks close to the plow track. It doesn't have the big long open face like Kelly's.

NLand management is either extremely clueless or they aren't attempting to return a profit and it's more or less a playground/conversation piece for Doug Coors.

The reef section is not even close to selling out and hasn't been for awhile, lots of times you could be the only one surfing the reef. The inside/bay wave area sees a handful of visitors each day.

Their facility is nice and would be a cool spot to spend a weekend (if you lived in TX) hanging out but they only offer $90 per hour to surf, so most people just buy a slot, show up, and leave. Their pricing doesn't promote people sticking around and actually spending more money.

Either way, surfing next to a chain link fence and grabbing it (see below) to get you into a wave is kinda lame.

Its a wake boarding thing I think. They think its Uber gay to wear a wetsuit alone for some reason.

Hahahaaa... uhhh yeah dont know what to say about that fashion sense.

Thanks for the replies.
For those who've been there:
Does the fresh water make that much of a difference in boyancy? Right now Im looking at the wave as a 3 foot mushburger into a rip. The kind where you dont really feel like youre going anywhere. Fair comparison?

If not, any concerns that a few quick pumps will take you into the chainlink?

Lol bingo. I guess you could pump into the fence, but its easy to stay in the right spot. You'd have to really try to pump into the fence.

Once again: I haven't surfed there. The one thing that is different than a mushburger that I can tell is the wave is moving close to 20 MPH. So there is a lot of water moving under your board. This negates the need for a true grovel board it seems. The fresh water buoyancy issue is a non-issue from every review I've read and listened to.

Edit: Listen to that podcast I posted earlier for tips on how to get in and make the wave. Also if you have the time go and see the schedule so you can pick the session that has the least people in it.

Those prices are for this:

2018 NLand Membership
Surf all waves, all season with these membership benefits:

20% Off Reef or Inside, and 30% off Bay Wave surf sessions
20% Off Board rentals
20% Off Wetsuit rentals
20% Off NLand branded merchandise at the Surf Shop
10% Off Blue Prairie and Juice Bar
Booking 60 days in advance
NLand member ID card
Special member events at NLand Brewing Company
Reduced annual membership cost of $249 per person for spouse and dependents
Unlimited complimentary shore passes for friends and family

It's retarded, you still pay $72 per hour for the reef wave under the membership plan and you would need to book the reef more than 21 times under the annual plan for it to make financial sense.
