if the duckdive isnt right, let go. i tore a shoulder trying to hold on. i did hold on, but i couldnt surf for months, i should just have let go.

Loc: 600 yards from the surf.
Did something similar about 5 years ago. Shoulder has never been the same. In my case wave slammed me and took board and arm with it.

I was glad I held on over a very shallow reef when I got caught inside but my poor 6'9" was not so stocked. She hit the reef and buckled under me drowning

tried to hold on today paddling to the peak to avoid surfer, but board hit my knee in the turbulence, it was like a muay thai kick. ended my session, glad im still walking...
