Wow, I'm coming up on 15 yrs on this current iteration of the Surf Doc message board! Actually started the whole online answering of surf related healthcare questions in 1994 with AOL's Greenhouse project via surflink.com! Anyways, always great discussions and banter. Thanks to everyone who makes this site great and fun! Enjoy the waves...

I had / got Lepto here on Kaua'i some years back from "Brown Water runoff". Horrible symptoms!! High and low fevers. Just fully spaced out. Misdiagnosed when I went to the Emergency Room at the local hospital. They gave me 800mg of Amoxicillin. Still sick as hell and after a few days on the Amoxicillin, I was sent to the Infectious Disease Doctor who caught it right away after I had told him what and where facts AND, had written down the times and medications that I had been taking.
He, prescribed Doxycillin and within 48 hours I was back on my feet and eating. Worst than a tooth ache & getting gout! Hell of a way to loose nearly 15+ pounds. I was pooping all the time, couldn't keep anything down. Just fuggin horrible ~
I laid in my bathtub either naked from being too hot or wrapped up from being too cold and shivering from the fever. Inbetween that I was pooping in the tub, turning on the shower and just letting it go down the drain.

Doxycillin ~ for Lepto.

*^*^* like what do you do with a stiff when refrigeration not avail in hot tropics? *^*^*

Green Tags = Good to go / able to tend to one's self
Red Tags = Immediate medical attention
Black Tags = Bag N Tag and moved to a holding area for removal

in the event of a hurricane / tsunami within my area and for the emergency response team that I'm on ~
