Been following the story....Is that link legit though? It's not being reported anywhere else(yet), not even on motogp.com, Hayden's website, crash.net, etc......

Dang, he was so great to watch when he was coming up!

There's been no updates for a few hours from the hospitals but the understanding is that Hayden has suffered "severe brain damage".

I don't follow moto but saw the video. Why wouldn't he bail and ram the wall instead? It looks like there was plenty of time to decide.

Nevermind, wrong video dancing

and

fake news? dancing http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/nicky-hayden-earl-hayden-decries-fake-news/

150 mph on a motorcycle no problem. Gets killed riding a bicycle. How crazy is that?

That was one of my first thoughts. mad

I hope the guy pulls through, but even if he does it's not looking good, possible long term brain damage. You can only hope it was a pure accident and not an incompetent driver.

Nick is one of, if not the most popular Americans roadracers amongst European motorcycle racing fans. The other two, Kevin Schwantz and Colin Edwards are fellow rednecks but they're from Texas and not KY like Nicky.

Sliding around.

RIP Nikki Hayden. Saw him race at Seca a few times. He was crazy talented on the bike and seemed like a really down to earth cool cat away from the track.

Bummers, When he first got picked up as a pro riding for Honda he was invited to the Torrance HNA facility, where my wife worked. The R&D was there and other key components. Whenever a racer won somewhere or came by there was free dessert for the employees and then they would get stickers or pins, etc to bring home. Pretty neat thing. My wife said that all the girls really liked Nicky. I believe that the picture that CS posted above is called "backing it in!"

That's like the moto equivalent of the Curren cutback photo.
